Acupuncture for horses is a form of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (“Eastern” medicine), which is best used when integrated with “Western” medicine. All veterinarians in the United States have been trained with Western Medicine philosophy. The incorporation of both Eastern and Western medical theories is beneficial to be able to best serve our equine patients by being able to assess any situation with more than one perspective.
